The sun broke over the mountains each morning at about 8 am. By that point, I usually already had an hour's walking behind me. It became a fun ritual to see where my shadow would first fall every morning.

This mile marker puts me about 110 miles from the Nepalese border and about 400 walking miles from Lhasa.
